About this session:
The International Building Code (IBC), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 Life Safety Code all require that walkways in the means of egress must be Slip Resistant. But what exactly is a Slip Resistant surface and how can you be certain that the floors you maintain are in compliance? Floor care manufacturers often claim that their products are "non-skid, non-slip, or skid-resistant," but what do these terms really mean? Don't they all mean the same thing and do they really make floors less slippery? The answer may surprise you! Flooring manufacturers have consciously chosen to not define these terms which has led to mass confusion and has contributed to thousands of slip and fall lawsuits. Join speaker Russ Kendzior as he unravels the confusion about floor safety and what you can do to prevent slips and falls.
1. Understand the causes and contributing factors of slip, trip and fall events
2. Overview of the nationally recognized industry standards that govern slip, trip and fall prevention
3. How you maintain your floors can make a big difference in preventing slips and falls
4. How to protect yourself and your clients by testing the slip resistance of the floors you maintain
